1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using chess.biz ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Chess.biz is a marketplace that connects chess players. Sellers can offer to play chess games for a fee, and buyers can pay to play games with them. All games are played on Lichess.org, a third-party platform.

3. User Accounts

• You must authenticate using a valid Lichess.org account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
• You must be at least 18 years old to use payment features.
• You may not impersonate others or misrepresent your identity.

4. Payments and Fees

• All payments are processed through Stripe.
• Chess.biz charges a 15% platform fee on all transactions.
• Sellers receive 85% of the listed price after a game is completed.
• Payouts are transferred to sellers after the game ends on Lichess.
• All prices are listed in USD.

5. Seller Obligations

• Sellers must complete Stripe Connect onboarding to receive payments.
• Sellers must be online and available when their listings are active.
• Sellers must create the Lichess challenge promptly after a buyer pays.
• Sellers must play the game in good faith (no intentional disconnects or stalling).
• Sellers are responsible for their own tax obligations.

6. Buyer Rights

• Buyers are entitled to play the game they paid for.
• If a seller fails to create a challenge within a reasonable time, buyers may request a refund.
• Refund requests should be sent to support.

7. Refund Policy

Refunds may be issued in the following cases:

• The seller fails to create a game challenge within 24 hours.
• Technical issues prevent the game from being played.
• The seller disconnects or abandons the game intentionally.

Refunds are not available simply because a buyer lost the game.

8. Prohibited Conduct

• Using chess engines or external assistance during games.
• Creating fake accounts or manipulating ratings.
• Harassing other users.
• Circumventing the payment system.
• Any activity that violates Lichess.org terms of service.

9. Limitation of Liability

Chess.biz is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for:

• Issues with Lichess.org or Stripe services.
• Disputes between buyers and sellers.
• Loss of earnings or opportunities.
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the platform.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
